Joan Janik has been a proud host of Airbnb for over five years. She owns a small cozy apartment building in the heart of the very trendy uptown Dallas neighborhood known as Knox/Henderson. Rarely does someone make a career change and do so with the gusto and conviction of someone half her age. She completely renovated these apartments by replacing the floors, the kitchen and bathrooms, purchasing new furnishings, kitchen utensils, dishes, and cutlery and coverts it into fully furnished apartment rentals in Dallas . She designed these apartments so the guests can feel completely at home.
Jerry Janik (son) joined the team to handle all the online communications and share the burden of growing a business. Jerry aided in listing the properties on HomeAway, in order increase exposure. Dennis Janik (son and brother), Advisor. Dennis owns and operates Rescate Animal Zooave the world renowned animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Costa Rica. In 2016 construction began on their new hospital and nursery area the rescue center. The 3 acre facility will be completed by September of 2017. This new facility triples their current capacity to more than 6,000 animals per year.
Dennis pioneered the process for reintroducing previously captured or injured animals into their natural environment. From three separate facilities covering over 2300 acres across Costa Rica they help animals get re-acclimated to their natural environment. The early release of these animals was important to the development of the soft release techniques that have led to over 25,000 animals have been rehabilitated and released, mostly into locally extinct areas.
Over the last 20 years, new populations of wide varieties species have been successfully established in nature. Some of the species that have been rehabilitated include hawks, owls, song birds, foxes, agoutis, Parrots, parakeets, anteaters, sloths, spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, turtles, iguanas, white faced capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, porcupines, parrots, crested guans, turtles and many other species.
The mission of Rescate Animal Zouave is to raise the consciousness of the plight of many captive animals in Costa Rica and around the world. Also, the mission includes the support and education of governments and people in the development of a proactive approach to animal welfare.
Joan Ulrich (daughter and sister), Advisor. Joan owns and operates a business that helps the elderly transition from their homes to either retirement homes or assisted living facilities.
But as parents age, their children must often assume the role of decision makers for how their parents best can spend the remainder of the lives keeping their best interest at heart. Nothing is as stressful as making this decision. Joan provides supportive, compassionate organizing services to both the parents and their children, as they prepare to enter assisted living or long-term care facilities. John Janik is best known for his daring modernism that thrives on the interplay between period and contemporary design. This is evidenced by his own Manhattan west village townhouse, which he spent five years restoring to its historical 1856 style. John also enlivened the interior with bold modern art and sleek, sculptural furniture creating an unparalleled balancing act. John opened 15 west 9th street as a boutique hotel. Hollywood celebrities like Sandra Bullock, Emily Watson, Sex And The City producers, Jennifer Jason Leigh, director Michel Gondry and writer Delia Ephron. All have called John’s discrete and chic hotel, their home away from home while on location in Manhattan.
As a celebrated interior designer, John is not only recognized by the high profile and celebrity clientele who have lived in his interiors. He is also widely recognized in the international press. John has been featured in House and Gardens’ “Inside the homes of collectors” issue, Casa Abitare, Vogue Magazine, Architectural Digest “Best of America” issue and A&E’s 'House Beautiful' hosted by Donna Hanover Giuliani.
In addition, some of John Janik’s most recent creations include retail store environments, a furniture collection and several renovations of architecturally significant residences.
Janik studied at Parsons School of Design. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
